Climbing Wall Challenge!
Students have enjoyed using the Traverse Climbing Wall in Physical Education class recently. Students not only demonstrated upper body strength and flexibility moving through obstacles, but also had to accurately throw a ball to earn points for their class while hanging from the wall!
Improving Reading Fluency
We are so proud of the growth many students have made with reading fluently in English and Spanish. Like other skills, students benefit from regular practice to improve their accuracy and rate of reading, which builds confidence and comprehension. Not to mention--it's fun!
Equal Groups
When children grasp the concept of equal groups, multiplication and division do not seem like such a mystery anymore! Using manipulatives like chips and talking it through with a partner, helps our students to make sense of concepts that can seem abstract at first.

Winter Band Concert--February 26th at 7:00 p.m.
Our Beginning Band Students have just started full group rehearsals, and they are very excited about their first performance at our Winter Band Concert on Thursday, February 26th at 7:00 p.m. The event is FREE, and will take place at the Center for the Arts at Wood Dale Junior High. You won't want to miss the first public performance in the upcoming musical careers of our newest musicians!
Use Parent Driveway Instead of Parking Lot
In an effort to improve student safety and increase efficiency for busy families, we are asking all families to drop off and pick up students ONLY using the driveway along Potter Street.
While your child may ask you to use the large parking lot, this is less safe and takes more time with vehicles pulling in and out of parking spaces.

Did you know that the Westview Playground is open for members of the community to enjoy outside of school hours? Our expectation is that students go home after dismissal to check in with parents. But once they have permission from parents, they are welcome to use the Westview playground, basketball hoops, and field after school hours and on weekends. We encourage students to put down devices and meet some friends at Westview to… “Go out and PLAY!
