End of Year Assembly & 60 Year Anniversary Celebration

While we have much to celebrate as we close the 2024-25 school year, we are also excited to recognize our 60th Anniversary as an elementary school!

Our students and staff enjoyed a video looking back over 6 decades of excellence that you can also view HERE

Indoor Field Day was Awesome!

Even though it rained the entire day, our students and staff had a great time at our Indoor Field Day on June 4th.  Many thanks to the parents and other volunteers who made the event possible!  For more photos, click HERE

5th Grade Recognition Ceremony & Memory Video

Our 92 fifth grade students along with parents, guardians and other special guests, enjoyed celebrating three great years at Westview.  To view the video that they were viewing in this photo, click HERE.

Annual 5th Grade Picnic

Our 5th grade students celebrated all of their hard work this year during our annual 5th Grade Picnic!  While it rained most of the day, our amazing staff and volunteers moved activities indoors and the students had a blast!  To view a few more pictures, click HERE

Spring Band Concert

On May 22nd, our Beginning Band and Cadet Band students performed wonderfully at our Spring Band Concert.  To view more photos, and even a few short video clips, click HERE

Westview Gazette

Did you know that we had a school newspaper?  We have a school club in which 5th graders learn about journalism skills such as developing story ideas, conducting interviews, writing, editing, and taking photos.  Check out the latest issue of the Westview Gazette HERE!

3rd Grade Rube Goldberg Machines

Our 3rd graders had so much fun collaborating in teams to build a Rube Goldberg machine!  Ask them about their machine and you should hear important vocabulary words and concepts such as force, gravity, ramp!  Students also learned about changing variables and repeating the experiment to see how that impacted the results.  To see a few more photos, click HERE

Bump, Set, Fun!

Students in all of our classrooms have enjoyed learning about volleball for the last several weeks!  They have learned how to bump and set the ball, but here they are using a slower moving ball to work together as a team!

Practice to Perform!

The Performing Arts Learning Standards promote students learning to perform for an audience.  Our Music Teacher Mr. Thoms creates these opportunities like this recent day in April during which a 3rd Grade Class came into the Music Room while the 5th graders performed for them.  To view more photos click HERE.  For a short video click HERE

Young Authors Conference

The students and staff at Oakbrook and Westview came together for our annual celebration of writing known as the Young Authors Conference on April 17th at Westview.  To see DOZENS of photos of this joyous opportunity for children to share authentic writing, click HERE.

A Lot to Juggle!

Westview students recently enjoyed learning about hand/eye coordination and timing during a juggling unit taught by P.E. Teacher Dave Bidlingmeyer.  Students made significant progress with their skills using scarves, bean bags and for some advanced learners--bowling pins!

You're the Teacher!

Fifth grade students recently examined sample projects as well as a rubric that emphasizes the concept of craftsmanship to assign a grade, based on the performance descriptions in each category.  The Oakbrook & Westview Art Teacher Julie Wagner aims to have this experience translate to careful craftsmanship in an upcoming symbolic Illuminated Letter project.

Solving Problems Together

Our students know that by talking through problems and discussing potential solutions, they better understand what the problem is asking, and try out strategies in math class, and beyond!

"Go out and play!"--Westview Playground is Open!

Did you know that the Westview Playground is open for members of the community to enjoy outside of school hours?  Our expectation is that students go home after dismissal to check in with parents.  But once they have permission from parents, they are welcome to use the Westview playground, basketball hoops, and field after school hours and on weekends.  We encourage students to put down devices and meet some friends at Westview to… “Go out and PLAY!

Westview Shows Tremendous Growth

We are extremely proud of the growth shown by Westview Students through the Illinois State Board of Education's Interactive School Report Card.  Based on several factors, Westview grew from a score of 56 points in 2023 to 77 points in 2024.  We are hoping to perform in the Exemplary range in the spring of 2025 between 3/17-3/28!
