Oakbrook & Westview PTO Family Skate Night!

Our first annual Family Skating Night was a huge success!  Thanks to the PTO for providing such a fun opportunity for families to rock 'n roll together!

First Sign of Spring at Westview!

While we are excited about warmer temperatures in the coming weeks, please remember that students must wear a jacket during recess if the temperature is below 60 degrees.

Making New Friends

We took advantage of Valentine's Day to get to know students at different grade levels by interviewing them and starting a few new friendships!

Read Across America

Westview Wildcats will celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss and daily themes during the first week of March as part of the annual celebration, "Read Across America."  Join us!

Colorful Sunsets

This student artwork may showcase stunning winter sunsets and perspective through shadows, but we're looking forward to seeing leaves back on trees soon!

5th Grade Science

Students explored concepts of measurement and solutions when they dissolved substances such as sugar and salt recently.

Making Observations

Student discussions are an important part of learning in all subjects, such as recording observations and drawing conclusions during science experiments.

Westview Students Receive Bernie's Book Bags!

We are very thankful for the generosity of Bernie's Book Bank for donating bags of books for ALL of our students to take home and enjoy as part of their personal library!

The Westview Gazette

Did you know that we had a school newspaper?  We have a school club in which 5th graders learn about journalism skills such as developing story ideas, conducting interviews, writing, editing, and taking photos.  Check out the latest issue of the Westview Gazette HERE!

Making Music!

We're so fortunate to have instruments for all student to compose and play music while exploring concepts such as rhythm, rather than having to wait for a turn!

Jumping Jack Challenge!

4th graders strive for perfect form while doing jumping jacks in unison as part of their student-led warm up routine during physical education class.

Discourse in Math

A focus in math classes across District 7 this year is prompting students to explain their strategy for solving problems in order to increase flexible thinking skills!

Family Bingo Night!

Children and adults of all ages enjoyed turning off electronic devices and winning prizes at Westview's annual Family Bingo Night.  Has your family had a family game night recently?

Performance Time!

In order to provide an authentic audience for our 5th grade students playing instruments in music class, Mr. Thoms invited 4th grade classes to join in and get a preview of what they'll learn next year!
