Ballet Folklorico at Westview!

We're very excited for our Ballet Folklorico students to perform at several upcoming events this spring including the Multicultural Festival 3/27 at Westview and the Westview Open House on 4/24.  This new afterschool club celebrates traditional Mexican dances, costumes, music and traditions!

A Lot to Juggle!

Westview students recently enjoyed learning about hand/eye coordination and timing during a juggling unit taught by P.E. Teacher Dave Bidlingmeyer.  Students made significant progress with their skills using scarves, bean bags and for some advanced learners--bowling pins!

4th Grade Infographics

Students from our 4th grade Dual Language classes recently completed research of animals and insects.  Rather than writing a traditional report, they used an online resource called Canva to create visual displays to convey important facts and concepts learned while reading informational text.

You're the Teacher!

Fifth grade students recently examined sample projects as well as a rubric that emphasizes the concept of craftsmanship to assign a grade, based on the performance descriptions in each category.  The Oakbrook & Westview Art Teacher Julie Wagner aims to have this experience translate to careful craftsmanship in an upcoming symbolic Illuminated Letter project.

Westview Gazette

Did you know that we had a school newspaper?  We have a school club in which 5th graders learn about journalism skills such as developing story ideas, conducting interviews, writing, editing, and taking photos.  Check out the latest issue of the Westview Gazette HERE!

Solving Problems Together

Our students know that by talking through problems and discussing potential solutions, they better understand what the problem is asking, and try out strategies in math class, and beyond!

Teamwork Makes the Dreamwork

4th Graders recently worked together as a class to pass a ball along while maintaining position on the climbing wall in P.E. class.  Students practice collaboration and communication while striving for a common goal in the activity!

Equivalent Fractions

Just about everywhere you look at Westview these days, students are exploring fractions!  Here, two fourth graders discover the many equivalent fractions while working with manipulatives!

Westview Shows Tremendous Growth

We are extremely proud of the growth shown by Westview Students through the Illinois State Board of Education's Interactive School Report Card.  Based on several factors, Westview grew from a score of 56 points in 2023 to 77 points in 2024.  We are hoping to perform in the Exemplary range in the spring of 2025 between 3/17-3/28!

"Go out and play!"--Westview Playground is Open!

Did you know that the Westview Playground is open for members of the community to enjoy outside of school hours?  Our expectation is that students go home after dismissal to check in with parents.  But once they have permission from parents, they are welcome to use the Westview playground, basketball hoops, and field after school hours and on weekends.  We encourage students to put down devices and meet some friends at Westview to… “Go out and PLAY!
